Arado SD III
Arado SD III (1929) was a German fighter biplane built by Arado Flugzeugwerke and designed by Walter Rethel. It was developed in parallel with the SD II and shared most of the same airframe. The main difference was the powerplant installation, which required a shorter forward fuselage and a redesigned undercarriage. Only one was built, and its first flight was in 1929. It was tested at Staaken, Rechlin and Lipetsk but was not suitable for mass production. The lessons from the SD III helped Arado design the later Ar 64 and Ar 65.
