Annals of Family Medicine
Annals of Family Medicine is a bimonthly, peer‑reviewed medical journal that started in 2003. It publishes original research from clinical, biomedical, social and health services sciences, as well as articles on methodology and theory, plus selected reviews, essays, and invited editorials. The editor-in-chief is Caroline Richardson of the University of Michigan.
In 2014, the journal’s impact factor was 5.434. The first issue appeared in 2003. Founding editor Kurt Stange led the journal for 17 years, through 2018. The Annals began as a collaborative effort by six family medicine organizations—American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), American Board of Family Practice (ABFP), Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM), Association of Departments of Family Medicine (ADFM), Association of Family Practice Residency Directors (AFPRD), and the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG)—and is overseen by an independent board drawn from these groups.
Annals of Family Medicine is indexed in MEDLINE, PsycINFO, CINAHL, Science Citation Index Expanded, and Current Contents/Clinical Medicine.
