In May 2019 he joined Forfar Athletic on a two-year deal and made 18 appearances. He spent part of 2020 on loan back to Brechin City, before returning to Brechin on a permanent basis and leaving the club in August 2020 due to work commitments.

Internationally, Jackson has represented the Republic of Ireland at under-17, under-18 and under-21 levels. He made his under-21 debut against Austria on 19 August 2008, playing 63 minutes in a 1–1 draw.
