Ambleny is a small town (commune) in northern France, in the Aisne department of the Hauts-de-France region. It lies about 8 km west of Soissons and 20 km east of Compiègne. The N31 road runs through the northern part of the area, with an exit to the D943 that heads south into the town. The D17 comes from Fontenoy in the north, passes through Ambleny, and continues south to Coeuvres-et-Valsery. The D1631 road runs southeast from Ambleny to meet the D94 at the southern edge.

The commune includes several hamlets: Le Soulier, Montaigu, Hignieres and Le Rollet. The northern half is a mix of forests and farmland; the southern half is mostly farmland. The Ru de Retz river forms part of the southwest boundary, flows north through Ambleny, and then heads toward the Aisne river just north of the town, eventually joining the Oise at Compiègne. The Quenneton stream joins the Ru de Retz just south of the town.

Historically, the hamlets Fosse-en-Haut and Fosse-en-Bas were the starting points for several French units, including the 418th Infantry Regiment, during the Second Battle of the Marne on 18 July 1918.

As of 2023, Ambleny has about 1,205 residents and covers an area of 117.32 square kilometers, giving a population density of roughly 70 people per square kilometer.

The current mayor (2020–2026) is Jean-Marie Bouvier.
