Amber Turner
Amber Turner is a fictional character from the Australian soap Neighbours, played by Jenna Rosenow. She first appeared in 2013 and left the show in 2016, with a brief cameo in April 2016. Amber is the teenage daughter of Lauren and Matt Turner, sister to Mason and Bailey, and half-sister to Paige Smith.
Amber is a friendly, vibrant and caring girl who means well, even if she sometimes makes the wrong choices. She grows up in a loving but close-knit family and gradually finds her own path in Erinsborough, developing close friendships and tricky relationships along the way.
Her early storylines revolve around relationships and growing up. Amber dates Robbo Slade, a bad-boy type, which leads to a pregnancy scare that creates tension with her family. Robbo’s later trouble and her own heartbreak push Amber to navigate her feelings and her future.
Amber’s love life continues to be complicated. She begins a relationship with Josh Willis, and the two fall in and out of love, facing jealousy, breakups, and family pressure. At the same time, she begins a romance with Daniel Robinson, which grows from friendship into a serious relationship. Amber’s relationship with Daniel faces several tests, including outside interference and a dramatic tornado that leads to a rushed engagement.
In 2014–2015 Amber becomes pregnant. A paternity test shows Josh is the father, though she and Daniel also share strong feelings. The pregnancy brings new challenges, including concerns about their baby’s health. Amber and Josh consider traveling to the United States for fetal surgery, while they also deal with the realities of parenthood as their daughter’s birth approaches.
Amber gives birth to a daughter, Matilda, after a difficult pregnancy. Matilda is born with a health condition called congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), but she undergoes successful surgery and begins to thrive. Amber and Josh alternate fears and hopes for their little girl as they try to build a family together.
Towards the end of her time on Neighbours, Amber’s life takes another turning point. She plans a move to Queensland for a CDH charity job, taking Matilda with her. Josh decides to move to be closer to them, but tragedy strikes when he dies heroically while saving Daniel during a disaster at Lassiter’s Hotel.
Amber leaves Erinsborough with Matilda to start a new life in Queensland, having grown from the shy, secretive girl she once was into a confident young woman who faced big choices about love, family and her future.
Amber was recognized for her work on the show, earning a nomination for Best Daytime Star at the Inside Soap Awards in 2014.
