Altonia, Texas
Altonia is a ghost town in San Augustine County, Texas. The local post office started as Ransom in 1886, later closed, and was renamed Altonia in 1895, probably because the town sits on a ridge. The town’s highest population was 25 people in 1933, and it was abandoned by the 1940s.
