Allies (Champions)
Allies is a 1993 role-playing game supplement for Champions, published by Hero Games. It adds 50 new non-player characters: 42 are part of six new hero teams—Executive Sanction, the Redeemed, the Flashmen, the Posse, the Braverman Foundation, and the Zen Team—while the remaining eight are solo characters. The referee can use these NPCs as backup allies for player characters, as rivals for the same goals, or even as villains.
Reception:
- Sean Holland, White Wolf #39 (1994), gave it 4 out of 5, calling it a useful book for Champions game masters and suggesting you use the new villains it provides.
- Allen Varney, Dragon, issue #212 (Dec 1994), called Allies a long-needed supplement that fleshes out campaigns with 50 powered NPCs, vigilantes, entrepreneurs, and wannabes. He noted flaws such as widely varying power levels, proofreading issues, and meaningless psychological limitations like “Strong regard for life” and “No sense of humor.” Despite these, he urged that Allies should be a vital toolkit for any four-colour Champions campaign.
