Air Deccan
Air Deccan was an Indian regional airline based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It was launched in 2003 by Captain G. R. Gopinath, a pioneer of low‑cost aviation in India, and started operations on 23 December 2003. After losses, it was acquired by Kingfisher Airlines in 2008 and rebranded as Simplifly Deccan and later Kingfisher Red. Kingfisher collapsed in 2012, but Gopinath kept the Air Deccan name and trademark. In 2017, a new Air Deccan relaunched with a focus on regional routes in Gujarat and Maharashtra. It received UDAN permits to operate regional routes and started scheduled flights in December 2017, beginning with a Mumbai–Jalgaon service and planning to connect Jalgaon, Nashik and Kolhapur with Mumbai and Pune. The airline used two Beech 1900D planes, each with 18 seats, and operated from its base at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, serving a small number of destinations. Air Deccan ceased operations on 5 April 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, and as of 2026 remains non-operational.
