Fear (Rybakov novel)
Fear (Russian: Страх) is a novel by Anatoly Rybakov. It is the second book in his trilogy about a group of young people in the Soviet Union, following Children of the Arbat and preceding Dust and Ashes. Set in the late 1930s, it covers the lead-up to the Great Purge, including the Congress of Victors and the early Second Five-Year Plan, and the rumored circumstances surrounding the murder of Sergey Kirov. The English edition was published in 1992.
