Rachel Ashegbofe Ikemeh is a Nigerian conservationist who works to protect wildlife and forests. She studied at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the University of Kent in the UK, and has been active in conservation since 2005. In 2020 she received a Whitley Award for her work. Ikemeh is the director of the South West and Niger Delta Forest Project, a program that protects endangered primates in southwestern Nigeria and the Niger Delta, including the Nigeria-Cameroon chimpanzee, the Red colobus monkey (Piliocolobus epieni), and the Benin potto. She has helped establish two protected areas in Nigeria: a IUCN Category II protected area in Ekiti State and a community conservation area in Bayelsa State. Her ongoing work aims to conserve wildlife and preserve forests across the country.
