Adela purpurea
Adela purpurea, commonly known as the Purple Fairy Moth, is a small moth in the Adelidae family (fairy longhorn moths). It was first described by Francis Walker in 1863. The species is found across boreal North America—from the Yukon and western Canada to Quebec and down to northern New Jersey. Adults fly mainly in spring: April in New England and May–June in northern Canada. They have been seen visiting Salix (willow) blossoms. Scientific name: Adela purpurea; synonym: Adela biviella (Zeller, 1873).
