Abner Reid McClelan
Abner Reid McClelan (January 4, 1831 – January 30, 1917) was a Canadian politician who served as the 10th Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick and as a long-time member of the Canadian Senate.
Born in Riverside-Albert, New Brunswick, to Peter McClelan and Lucy McLelan, he studied at Mount Allison Wesleyan Academy (now Mount Allison University). He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in 1854 and served there until Confederation in 1867. After Confederation, he joined the Senate of Canada for New Brunswick as a Liberal and served from 1867 to 1896.
In 1896, McClelan resigned from the Senate to become Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick, a role he held until 1902. He died in Moncton, New Brunswick, in 1917. He was married to Anna Reid in 1876.
