7 Wonders of the Ancient World is a puzzle video game made by Hot Lava Games’ Russian studio and published by MumboJumbo. It came out in 2007 for Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and Windows.

In the game, you try to rebuild the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Each wonder has 5 to 7 sub-levels filled with runes. You swap runes to make a row of three or more. There are two ways to play: Quest Mode, which has a story, and Free Play, where you can replay levels you’ve beaten.

The game received mixed reviews. The DS version scored about 60/100 on Metacritic and the PSP version about 51/100. GameRankings gave the DS version around 62% and the PSP version about 55%.

Sequels followed. The first, 7 Wonders II, released in 2007, but it didn’t come out on PS2 or PSP; the DS version arrived in 2010. Other games in the series include 7 Wonders: Treasures of Seven (2008; DS in 2011), 7 Wonders: Magical Mystery Tour (2011 on PC), and 7 Wonders: Ancient Alien Makeover (2012 on PC). Because the PC game market declined, Ancient Alien Makeover was released digitally in the US, while Europe received a physical collector’s edition.
