3rd federal electoral district of Yucatán
The 3rd federal electoral district of Yucatán is one of Mexico’s 300 federal electoral districts. It covers the southern part of Mérida, Yucatán, with Mérida city as its head town. It elects one deputy to the Chamber of Deputies every three years by first-past-the-post voting, and its votes also help determine the proportional representation seats.
As of 2024, the district is represented by Óscar Iván Brito Zapata of Morena, who won the 2024 general election. In 2023, INE redrew the district boundaries, creating a map used for the 2024, 2027, and 2030 elections. Under this plan, the 3rd district includes 191 polling precincts in the southern part of Mérida.
Population and status: 372,609 people lived in the district according to the 2020 census, with Indigenous and Afro-descendant residents making up about 43% of the total. Because of this, INE classifies the district as Indigenous.
