2nd Iowa Independent Battery Light Artillery
The 2nd Iowa Light Artillery Battery was a light artillery unit from Iowa that served in the Union Army during the Civil War. It was organized in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and entered Federal service on August 18, 1861, for a three-year term. The battery fought in key battles such as Iuka, Corinth, the Siege of Vicksburg, and Nashville. About 193 men served in the battery during its existence. It suffered 32 fatalities: 3 enlisted men killed in action or died of wounds and 29 who died of disease. The battery was disbanded on February 7, 1865.
