The 2078th Air Weather Reconnaissance Squadron was a United States Air Force unit that operated from 1948 to 1950. It was part of the 308th Reconnaissance Group, Weather, and started at Fairfield-Suisun Air Force Base, California as a weather reconnaissance training unit. Its mission was to train replacement personnel and conduct research to develop equipment and techniques for weather reconnaissance, using Boeing WB-29 Superfortress aircraft. The squadron moved to Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma on October 1, 1948, and was discontinued in March 1950 at Tinker. Its personnel and equipment were transferred to the 513th Reconnaissance Squadron, which soon deployed to Dhahran Airfield, Saudi Arabia for a special project, with Flight B sent overseas while the other flights remained at Tinker.
