2021 UEFA Regions' Cup
The 2021 UEFA Regions' Cup was supposed to be UEFA’s 12th edition of the amateur football championship for European teams. It was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The final tournament was planned for June 2021 after the qualifying rounds in 2020, and Lower Silesia in Poland were the defending champions.
A total of 36 teams from 36 UEFA member associations entered the competition. Each association could send a regional amateur team that qualified nationally, or use its national amateur team. Teams were placed into rounds based on UEFA coefficients from 2015, 2017 and 2019. The top 28 associations started in the intermediate round, while the bottom eight began in the preliminary round. The draws for these rounds were held on 3 December 2019 at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, with the rule that teams from Russia and Ukraine could not be drawn together.
In the format, the preliminary and intermediate rounds feature round-robin mini-tournaments hosted by one of the selected teams. The final tournament would include eight qualified teams in two groups of four, with the group winners meeting in a final hosted by UEFA from one of the participating teams. The winners and runners-up from each group would move on to the intermediate round to join the 28 teams given byes.
The preliminary round was originally planned for 2 August 2020 but was postponed due to the pandemic and then cancelled. Schedules used Central European Summer Time (CEST, UTC+2) or Central European Time (CET, UTC+1) as listed by UEFA.
