2016–17 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season

The season ran from September 2016 through March 19, 2017. It ended with the NCAA Division I women's ice hockey tournament, whose championship game was played on March 19, 2017. The 2017 Frozen Four (women) was held at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri, hosted by Lindenwood University.

- Patty Kazmaier Award (top player): Ann-Renée Desbiens of Wisconsin

Rankings and leaders:
- Early-season national rankings came from USCHO and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine, with top-10 lists published in September 2016. First-place votes are shown in parentheses; rankings reflect conference wins.
- By March 19, 2017, leaders included the top points scorers and the top goaltenders in goals against average (GAA) for players who appeared in at least 33% of their team's minutes.
