2015 Dongying explosion
On 31 August 2015, a major explosion and fire occurred at Diao Kou Xiang Bin Yuan Chemical Co. in Dongying, Shandong, China. The blast happened around 11:22 p.m. local time (about 15:30 UTC) and the fire was under control after about five hours. Thirteen people were killed and 25 were injured. Chinese authorities detained 12 company employees and executives, as well as 11 government officials, as part of the investigation. The incident occurred roughly three weeks after the Tianjin disaster.
