2009 Miami Valley Silverbacks season

The 2009 season was the Silverbacks’ fourth in the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL). They had planned to sit out, but when the West Virginia Wild were suspended, the CIFL gave the Silverbacks their spot. The 12-game schedule would have seen them travel most of the year, with only two home games at Hobart Arena; two road games were canceled. Derrick Shepard, a former NFL and Arena Football League defensive tackle, was hired as head coach. On April 14, the team announced that most of their remaining games would be streamed online for free on MCP-TV at miamicountypost.com, with JT Szabo doing the play-by-play. The Silverbacks finished with a franchise-worst 0-10 record and did not make the playoffs for the third straight season. They placed 4th in their division.
