2008 Richmond Spiders football team

The 2008 Richmond Spiders football team represented the University of Richmond in the 2008 NCAA Division I FCS season. They played in the Colonial Athletic Association and hosted games at the University of Richmond Stadium. Led by first-year head coach Mike London, the Spiders finished the regular season 9–3 overall, 6–2 in conference play. After three losses, they earned an at-large bid to the FCS playoffs. At home they beat Eastern Kentucky, and on the road they defeated Appalachian State and Northern Iowa to reach the championship game. In Chattanooga, Richmond defeated Montana 24–7 to win the NCAA Division I FCS national championship. It was the University of Richmond’s first NCAA national title in any sport.
