Patrick Hines
Patrick Hines (March 17, 1930 – August 12, 1985) was an American actor from Burkeville, Texas. He is best known for playing Kapellmeister Giuseppe Bonno in the 1984 film Amadeus and for Samuel Chase in the film 1776. He also appeared in The Brink's Job, Bloodrage, and A Passage to India.
On Broadway, Hines was a character actor. He debuted as Friar Pete in Measure for Measure (1957). In 1972, he joined the Kennedy Center tryout of Pippin as the Abbot, but the monastery sequence was cut during previews and he left before the Broadway run began. He originated the role of Orsini-Rosenberg in the original New York production of Amadeus, and played Pothinus in the 1979 revival of Caesar and Cleopatra opposite Rex Harrison. His other stage credits include The Iceman Cometh and The Devils.
Hines died of a heart attack in 1985 in Manhattan, New York, at the age of 55.
