2005–06 Butler Bulldogs men's basketball
The Butler University team, led by fifth-year head coach Todd Lickliter, played its home games at Hinkle Fieldhouse as a member of the Horizon League. They finished 20–13 overall, 11–5 in the conference. They earned an at-large bid to the 2006 National Invitation Tournament as the 8 seed in the Cincinnati bracket. In the NIT, they defeated Miami (OH) 53–42 in the first round before losing to Florida State 67–63 in the first round. MVP was Brandon Polk. Captains were Bruce Horan, Brandon Crone, and Brian Ligon. Assistant coaches were Matthew Graves, LaVall Jordan, and Brad Stevens.
