Bradford City A.F.C. 2000–01 season
Bradford City played in the Premier League, finishing 20th and relegated to the next division. The club’s chairman was Geoffrey Richmond, and they played at Valley Parade. Manager Chris Hutchings started the season, but was sacked after 12 games. Stuart McCall served as caretaker from 8 to 20 November, and Jim Jefferies took over from 20 November.
They began with a mixed start—1–0 defeat at Liverpool and a 2–0 home win against Chelsea—but could not sustain it and won only five league games all season. In cup competitions, they reached the third round of both the FA Cup and the League Cup. They also took part in Europe for the first time, entering the UEFA Intertoto Cup and reaching the semi-finals before losing to Zenit Saint Petersburg.
Top scorers: Benito Carbone with 5 league goals; Dean Windass with 8 in all competitions. Attendance highlights: highest home crowd 22,057 against Liverpool on 1 May 2001; lowest 4,751 against Darlington on 25 September 2000; average home league attendance 18,511. The team wore an ASICS home kit, sponsored by JCT600.
