The 1998–99 Cupa României was the 61st edition of Romania's main football cup. FCSB won the title, defeating Rapid București in the final.
How the competition works:
- It is a knockout tournament.
- First round proper games are played at the home ground of the lower-ranked team.
- From the second round onward, games are played at neutral venues.
- If a match is tied after 90 minutes, it goes to extra time, and if still tied, penalties decide the winner.
- Quarter-finals and semi-finals are two-legged ties.
- Divizia A teams enter at the round of 16, a rule used since the competition began.
Dates:
- 2 December and 9 December 1998
