The 1996 SEABA Under-18 Championship was the first edition of Southeast Asia’s under-18 tournament and also served as the qualifier for the 1996 ABC Under-18 Championship. It was held in Santa Cruz, Laguna, Philippines from July 27 to 30, 1996. The opening day, July 26, was postponed due to floods caused by Typhoon Gloria (Gloring). Four teams from ten member federations competed, with all games played in a single venue in one city.

The Philippines dominated the event, winning all their games and claiming their first SEABA Under-18 title by beating Singapore 93–64 in the final. By reaching the final, Singapore joined the Philippines as SEABA representatives for the 1996 ABC Under-18 Championship, alongside Malaysia and Thailand, who were the hosts of that tournament.
