1996 Arena Football League season
The tenth AFL season ran from April 25 to August 26, 1996. The Tampa Bay Storm won ArenaBowl X, defeating the Iowa Barnstormers; the Finals MVP was Stevie Thomas.
The league kept a 14-game regular season, a format that would stay in place through 2003. The Texas Terror joined as an expansion team. The Fort Worth Cavalry moved to Minneapolis and became the Minnesota Fighting Pike. The Las Vegas Sting relocated to Anaheim and became the Anaheim Piranhas, while the Miami Hooters were renamed the Florida Bobcats. The Denver Dynamite rights were sold, and the team announced a return in 1997 as the Nashville Kats.
