1979 Green Bay Packers season
1979 Green Bay Packers season
The Packers, led by head coach Bart Starr, played their home games at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. It was their 61st season overall and 59th in the NFL. They finished 5–11, fourth in the NFC Central, and did not make the playoffs.
The offense struggled while the defense also had trouble stopping opponents, especially on the ground. The notable highlights were a 27–14 Monday Night Football win over the New England Patriots at Lambeau Field—the first Monday night game held there—and a home victory over the Minnesota Vikings, their first win over the Vikings at home since 1970.
