1977 Birmingham Ladywood by-election
The 1977 Birmingham Ladywood by-election was held on 18 August 1977 after Labour MP Brian Walden resigned to concentrate on his career as a journalist and broadcaster. It was a safe Labour seat and Labour retained it. At the count, the Socialist Unity candidate Raghib Ahsan punched the National Front candidate Anthony Reed Herbert.
