On November 3, 1964, Wyoming voters chose their United States senator. Incumbent Democrat Gale W. McGee sought a second term and faced Republican John S. Wold, a former chairman of the Wyoming Republican Party and former state representative. Despite Wyoming’s conservative leanings, McGee benefited from Lyndon B. Johnson’s strong performance in the state. McGee won re-election, defeating Wold 53.99% to 46.01% (about 54% to 46%).
