1957 Wisconsin Supreme Court election
On April 2, 1957, Wisconsin voters elected a justice to a full ten-year term on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Incumbent George R. Currie was re-elected without opposition, receiving about 757,065 votes. Currie had been appointed in August 1951 by Governor Walter J. Kohler Jr. to fill the vacancy caused by Justice Henry P. Hughes’ resignation. His appointment was praised for diversifying the Court’s experience by adding a practicing attorney.
