1936 Arkansas gubernatorial election
On November 3, 1936, Arkansas voters chose the state’s governor. Democratic candidate Carl E. Bailey defeated Republican Osro Cobb to win the election. Bailey had won the Democratic nomination in the August 14, 1936 primary with a majority of 31.99% of the votes. In the general election, Bailey received 155,152 votes (84.89%), while Cobb received 26,875 votes (14.71%), a margin of 128,277 votes. Bailey was sworn in as the 31st Governor on January 12, 1937, continuing Democratic control of the office after Governor Junius Marion Futrell.
