The election was held on November 5, 1918. The Republican candidate William L. Harding, who was the incumbent, defeated the Democratic candidate Claude R. Porter with 50.55% of the vote.
Results
- William L. Harding (Republican) – 192,662 votes (50.55%)
- Claude R. Porter (Democratic) – 178,815 votes (46.92%)
- Andrew Engle (Socialist) – 8,005 votes (2.10%)
- M. L. Christian (Prohibition) – 1,625 votes (0.43%)
Harding’s victory kept the governorship in Republican hands.
