1847 Rhode Island gubernatorial election
On April 7, 1847, Rhode Island held its gubernatorial election. The incumbent Law and Order Governor Byron Diman did not run again. The Whig candidate, Elisha Harris, defeated the Democratic candidate Olney Ballou, with 6,300 votes (55.3%) to 4,350 votes (38.2%). Harris became governor, replacing Diman.
