Coat of arms and flag: The emblem shows a white upper half and a red lower half separated by a zigzag line. This design comes from the historic County of Sulz and was adopted after World War II. A castle-on-a-hill image proposed in 1933 was not used. The municipal flag was issued in 1982.

History: Before 1806, Zimmern belonged to the County of Waldburg-Zeil. After 1806 it became part of the Kingdom of Württemberg. It later moved between districts: Spaichingen, then Rottweil. In 1938 the Rottweil district was dissolved and Zimmern joined Balingen. In 1973, Balingen and surrounding areas were merged into Zollernalbkreis.

Transportation: Public transport is provided by the Verkehrsverbund Neckar-Alb-Donau.

Government: The mayor from 2023 to 2031 is Walter Sieber.
