You Want It, You Got It is Bryan Adams’ second studio album, released July 28, 1981 on A&M Records. It helped define Adams’ rock sound that he’s kept throughout his career. Unlike his debut, where Adams and Jim Vallance played many instruments, this album was recorded live in the studio.

Recording and release
- Recorded over two weeks in spring 1981 at Le Studio in Morin-Heights, Quebec, and mixed at The Power Station in New York City.
- The album runs 38 minutes and 33 seconds and is labeled as rock and hard rock.
- Producers were Bryan Adams and Bob Clearmountain.

Titles and reception
- The original plan was to title the album Bryan Adams Hasn’t Heard Of You Either, but the label chose You Want It, You Got It.
- The first single, Lonely Nights, became a regional hit in upstate New York before catching on wider. It reached number 3 on the Billboard Rock Tracks chart and number 84 on the Billboard Hot 100.
- Other singles included Coming Home and Fits Ya Good. Fits Ya Good became Adams’ first Canadian Top 40 hit (peaking at 30) and reached number 15 on the Billboard Rock Tracks chart.
- The album helped launch Adams on tour, including club shows, radio concerts, and opening for acts like the Kinks and Foreigner.

Songs and covers
- Many songs were written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance (as with his other early work). Several tracks from the album were later recorded by other artists, such as Uriah Heep’s cover of Lonely Nights, PRiSM’s Jealousy, Randy Meisner’s Tonight, and Tove Naess’s version of Fits Ya Good.
- The first version of Lonely Nights appeared on Ian Lloyd’s 1980 album 3WC (Third World Civilization).

In the chronology of Adams’ career, You Want It, You Got It sits after his 1980 debut and before 1983’s Cuts Like a Knife.
