2. Oberliga Süd

The 2. Oberliga Süd was the second-highest level of German football in southern Germany from 1950 to 1963. It covered Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Hesse. It began as a feeder league to the Oberliga Süd (in operation since 1945) and was one of three second Oberligas, alongside the 2. Oberliga West and the 2. Oberliga Südwest.

Winners and runners-up were promoted to the Oberliga Süd, while the bottom two teams were relegated to the Amateurligas. Below the 2nd Oberliga were the regional Amateurligas.

1. FC Pforzheim was the only club to play all 13 seasons in the league. In 1963 the league was dissolved. The top nine teams moved to the new Regionalliga Süd (the new second division), while teams placed 10th to 18th were relegated to the Amateurligas.
