Warren Batchelder
Warren Batchelder (April 18, 1917 – February 12, 2007) was an American animator known for his work on Warner Bros. cartoons and later with DePatie-Freleng Enterprises. He was born in Los Angeles, California, and began in animation in 1936. At Warner Bros. Cartoons, he started in 1945 as an assistant to Virgil Ross, later becoming a full animator in Robert McKimson's unit; his first credited work was Feather Bluster (1958). When Warner Bros. closed in 1963, he joined DePatie–Freleng Enterprises and also did work for Bill Melendez Productions and Richard Williams’ Studio. He continued to work with Friz Freleng and Dave DePatie after their studio was acquired by Marvel in 1980, and helped launch Warner Bros. Animation that same year. Batchelder served as animation director on the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon and did the animation for the 1976 Peanuts TV special It’s Arbor Day, Charlie Brown, as well as for the 1977 Peanuts Movie Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown (uncredited). He received the Animation Guild Golden Award in 1987 and retired in 2002. He died in Malibu, California, at age 89.
