Ward Costello
Ward Costello, born Edward Costello on July 5, 1919, in Boston, Massachusetts, was an American actor, composer, and lyricist. He died on June 4, 2009, in Redlands, California, at age 89.
As a young man, Costello left home to go to sea, worked on farms and ranches, and later became a newspaper reporter in New York. He served in both the British Royal Air Force and the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II, earning the Silver Star and three Distinguished Flying Crosses.
After the war, he worked as a foreign-news editor for CBS in New York and wrote the lyrics for the theme of The Gallant Hours.
In acting, Costello appeared on TV programs such as Star Trek: The Next Generation, Little House on the Prairie, and Alfred Hitchcock Presents. He retired from acting in 1989.
He was married to actress Loraine Grover, and they had a daughter named Erin. He later lived with his wife Gerarda Costello. He is survived by Gerarda; three sons; a daughter; two brothers and a sister. Costello died from complications of a stroke.
