Wah Yan Dramatic Society is a Hong Kong group that performs Cantonese opera in English, also called Cantonese Opera in English. It was started in 1947 by Wong Chin Wah, a Wah Yan College alumnus, to help foreigners enjoy Cantonese culture. It began when Father Sheridan tried to fit English lyrics into Cantonese operas. Wong, Sheridan, and other alumni then set up the society. Wong Chin Wah wrote English lyrics for 36 Cantonese operas, including A Lizard is No Dragon, The Fighting Bride, Three Times Engaged, and A Tale of Two Kingdoms. Well-known performers such as Donald Tsang, Dominic Wong, Michael Suen, and John Chan have performed with the society. In February 2007, the society gave a show at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre to mark its 60th anniversary and to raise funds for its SDP project and the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, with Donald Tsang and Bak Sheut Sin as chief patrons. During the performance, Stanley Ho sang an English version of The Moon Represents My Heart.
