Helen Grime’s Violin Concerto was written in 2015–2016 for the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Its world premiere took place on December 15, 2016, at Berwald Hall in Stockholm, with violinist Malin Broman and conductor Daniel Harding leading the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.

The piece lasts about 20 minutes and is one continuous movement divided into three sections with short interludes.

It is written for solo violin and a full orchestra, including woodwinds, brass, percussion, harp, celesta, and strings.

Critics praised the work. Jari Kallio called it one of Grime’s most compelling scores and suggested it could become a staple of the repertoire. Colin Anderson said it makes an immediate, energetic impression. Chris King of The St. Louis American noted the solo violin carries most of the energy, with other instruments playing sparse lines, and described the ending as discordant but beautiful.
