Jelly (app)
Jelly was a mobile Q&A app created by Jelly Industries, a San Francisco-based company led by Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter, and Ben Finkel. The app encouraged users to ask questions using photos and to seek answers from within their networks and beyond, with the goal of making people more empathetic when answering questions.
Jelly launched in 2013 and came out of stealth with a public release on January 7, 2014. It raised funding in two rounds—from notable investors including Spark Capital, SV Angel, Jack Dorsey, Reid Hoffman, Al Gore, Bono, and others during its Series A in 2013, and from Greylock Partners for its Series B in January 2014. In March 2014, Jelly added a map-based feature that let users post questions tied to a location.
In March 2017, Pinterest acquired Jelly Industries for an undisclosed amount. Jelly was dissolved in April 2017, becoming part of Pinterest.
