Uxbridge Cottage Hospital
Uxbridge Cottage Hospital is a small community hospital in Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada. It is part of Canada’s public health system and offers a 24-hour emergency department, primary care, and some secondary care services for the township of Uxbridge. The hospital has 20 beds and a helipad for patient transfers, located west of the main building. A walkway connects the hospital to the Testa Professional Building at 2 Campbell Drive.
History
- Opened in 1958 after about a decade of planning.
- Additions and renovations in 1967 and between 1996 and 1998.
- The Recognition Tower, a 12-meter steel bell tower, was unveiled in 1990.
- In 1997, it merged with Community Memorial Hospital Port Perry to form North Durham Health Services, which ended in 1998.
- Affiliated with Lakeridge Health Centre in Oshawa from 1998 to January 5, 2004, as Lakeridge Health, Uxbridge.
- On January 5, 2004, it came under the Markham Stouffville Hospital Corporation.
- The hospital’s beds were reduced from 49 to 20.
