Up the U's
"Up the U's" is the football chant sung by Colchester United supporters and is often seen as the club's anthem. Local band Special Duties have recorded it twice. The first version appeared as a B-side to "Wembley! Wembley! (Wembley, here we come)" to support Colchester United’s run to the Auto Windscreens Shield final. Both tracks were included on a 2000 compilation of Special Duties’ singles. In 2006, the song was re-recorded to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust in memory of Emily Begg, a fourteen-year-old fan who died of leukemia that year. A version by Colchester indie rock band Absent Kid is now played at home games.
