U2 is a line of the Hamburg U-Bahn. It runs 24.543 km (15.250 miles) and serves 25 stations. The line starts in Niendorf Nord in the north, goes through the city center to Hauptbahnhof Nord, and ends in Mümmelmannsberg in the east. The first section opened on 21 October 1913, between Schlump and Emilienstraße. In 1914 it was extended to Hellkamp; that station was closed in 1964 and replaced in 1965 by Lutterothstraße. In 2009, the eastern part of U2 and U3 were swapped behind Berliner Tor, so U2 now ends in Mümmelmannsberg and U3 became a ring line with a branch to Wandsbek-Gartenstadt.
