Aquatica (beetle)
Aquatica is a genus of fireflies in the subfamily Luciolinae. They are found in China, Taiwan, Japan, Russia and Korea. The genus was established in 2010 by Fu, Ballantyne and Lambkin after studying their genetics, anatomy and behavior. The type species is Aquatica wuhana. The genus has five species, and all except A. wuhana were previously placed in Luciola. The larvae are aquatic, which is reflected in the name Aquatica (from the word “aquatic”).
