Tehnoton

Tehnoton is a private Romanian company founded in 1972 in Iași. It originally produced home electronics and industrial machinery. By 1989 it became a major Romanian maker of radio tuners (notably the Gloria and Cosmos), compact cassette players, and record players, with exports to France, Japan, and the United States. It also produced closed-circuit television systems and maritime communication equipment for Romania and other Eastern European countries. The company was privatized in 2000 and is now part of the Omega-Tehnoton Group. Today Tehnoton specializes in metal processing, plastic injection, and electronics manufacturing.
