Taryn Fiebig (1 February 1972 – 20 March 2021) was an Australian soprano and a leading artist with Opera Australia. Born in Perth, she first studied cello at the University of Western Australia before training as a singer. She joined Opera Australia in 2005 as a principal soprano and sang a wide range of roles in Mozart, Baroque, Italian, contemporary opera, operetta and musical theatre. Notable roles included Susanna, Zerlina, Papagena and Pamina in Mozart operas, Belinda in Dido and Aeneas, and Galatea in Acis and Galatea, as well as Lisa in La sonnambula, Clorinda in La Cenerentola and Musetta in La Bohème.

Fiebig’s career also spanned musical theatre and touring productions, and she appeared in broadcasts such as The Mikado on TV. She won two Helpmann Awards: in 2010 for Lucy in Bliss and in 2019 for Metamorphosis. Her later work included Despina in Così fan tutte, Gutrune in Götterdämmerung, and the role of Mother in Metamorphosis by Australian composer Brian Howard.

She died of ovarian cancer in Sydney in 2021, aged 49. Her legacy includes the Taryn Fiebig Prize at WAAPA, the Pinchgut Opera Taryn Fiebig Scholar program, and the Taryn Fiebig Concert Hall at Churchlands Senior High School. She is remembered for her versatile voice and contributions to Australian opera.
