Albert Viksten (born 8 April 1889 in Vojen, Grangärde parish) was a Swedish writer associated with the proletarian literary movement. He is best known for his books about people working in Sweden’s forest industry and for his portraits of nature. He was also an early critic of how human industry affects the environment. Before becoming a writer, Viksten worked in the forest and railway industries and as a sailor. He was married to Lisa Viksten (formerly Brolin) and had four children: Sven, Hans, Karin, and Marta. He died on 23 June 1969 in Färila, Gävleborg. He received the Samfundet De Nio Grand Prize posthumously in 1969.
