Tanner Swanson

Tanner Swanson is an American professional baseball coach for the New York Yankees, where he works as the major league quality control coach and catching coordinator. He previously held the same catching roles with the Minnesota Twins, in both the minor and major leagues.

Swanson grew up in Cle Elum, Washington, and attended Cle Elum-Roslyn High School. He played four years of college baseball at Green River College, Everett Community College, and Central Washington University, where he earned a BS in Physical Education and School Health.

His coaching career includes multiple roles before joining the Yankees. He was a health education teacher and baseball coach at Sultan High School (2007–2008), an assistant coach at Everett Community College (2009), and a lecturer and coach at Central Washington University (2010). In 2011 he was the head baseball coach at Green River College. From 2012 to July 2017 he worked at the University of Washington in various roles, including graduate manager, director of baseball operations, and volunteer assistant coach. He founded D1 Catching in 2015. In July 2017 he became a full-time assistant coach at Santa Clara University, and in November 2017 he joined the Minnesota Twins as minor league catching coordinator. In November 2019 he joined the Yankees as major league quality control coach and catching coordinator.
